SUNNIVUE WATER BUFFALO ON YOUTUBE!

We are happy to announce that everyone, near and far, has the opportunity to observe the Sunnivue water buffalo swimming and bathing in their newly enlarged pond, since they have now emerged as stars on Youtube. Please go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2ZygAAKOkg for a great treat. Many thanks to Robert Jülke, who created the video.

Farm Store News

The farm store has re-opened for the season, and will be open Fridays 3:00-6:00 and Saturdays 9:00-4:00 until December.

In the store you will find a good supply of organic, tenderly raised beef and chicken, and also water buffalo meat, which is similar to beef but regarded as more flavourful by those who have tried it. There will also be a wide range of fresh and frozen organic produce, honey, maple syrup, coffee, Sunnivue's own eggs, Monforte cheese, and much more.

Our Next Event

The annual meeting of ROSE, the land trust that holds and protects the farm, is scheduled for Saturday, June 9, at 10:00 a. m., at the farm.
Our speaker will be Melanie Doerksen, convivium leader of Slow Food London. During her association with Slow Food, Melanie has worked closely with other local groups, including Covent Garden Market and local chefs, to forward the objectives of Slow Food, and has offered support and encouragement to all those involved in sustainable local food production, including small-scale and diverse farming operations such as Sunnivue.
In her professional life, Melanie is a culinary arts instructor at Fanshawe College, and is developing a new curriculum for more advanced culinary arts students that will draw on the expertise of local artisans such as bakers and cheese-makers.
In addition, Melanie and her husband grow hops on their farm south of Delhi, and aim in the long run to include a brewery in their operation. Melanie has been nominated to sit on the board of the Ontario Hops Growers Association.
Melanie's topic will be "Eating Slowly." Please put this event on your calendar.
