Dear Friends of Sunnivue Farm,
Happy New Year to you all, and many thanks for all of your support over the past year.
I am happy to report that deliveries in London will begin on Tuesday, January 22, and will continue each week. In case of a gap, when the farmers may seize a winter moment for a brief holiday, we will try to let you know well in advance.
Meats, winter vegetables, breads, fair trade coffee, eggs, honey, maple syrup, and sometimes some homemade treats will all be available. So will a wide range of healing and body care products from Weleda. There may also be supplementary vegetables from a local distributor. A price list will be available soon.
To place an order for any week, please get in touch with Dagmar by Sunday evening. Phone 519-232-9096, or email sunnivue-farm@gmx.net. I'd like to put in a particular plug for the Weleda products, which are sold as a fundraiser to benefit the ROSE land trust that holds and supports the Farm. These products, both for healing and for maintenance, are wholesome and conscientiously crafted. So many body care products have recently been shown to contain questionable ingredients, and it is good to have a source where every attempt is made to insure that the products do no harm. Besides, they feel wonderful, and they work! Please consult the web-site http://usa.weleda.com/index.aspx for more information, and email sunnivue-farm@gmx.net me with any questions or requests.
Our traditional Winter Day will be held at the Farm on Saturday, February 2, from 10:00 until 3:00. Activities, depending on the weather, may include walking (by the river and in the bush), talking, skiing, snowshoeing, snow sculptures, visiting the cows, and of course looking out for the groundhog. After a break of a few years, it could be about time for him to put in an appearance again. Then there's eating: the Farm will provide hot apple cider, and please feel free to bring your lunch to eat in the kitchen (cutlery and plates provided), and a treat to share if you wish.
With all best wishes,
Sally Vernon (for Sunnivue)
Here are three out of numerous possible ways to get to Sunnivue. The first, more practicable now that New Ontario Rd. has been paved up to County Rd. 19, is the quickest way from North and Central London, and is an especially pretty drive:
Take Highway 4 (Richmond St.) north to Arva, turn left at the light on Medway, continue to the end of Medway at Vanneck, turn right on Vanneck, after crossing Ilderton Rd. bear left on New Ontario Rd. and continue all the way to the Farm, which is about 1 km. after you cross County Rd. 19 (also called Petty St./Queen St.).
Take Highway 22 (Fanshawe Park Rd.) to Lobo, turn right on County Rd. 17 (Nairn/Gainsborough Rd.) and continue to County Rd. 19 (Petty St.) at Nairn, turn right and continue to New Ontario Rd, turn left and drive about 1 km. to Sunnivue Farm on the left. Don't cross the one-lane bridge; you will have gone too far.
Take Highway 4 (Richmond St.) north to Highway 7, turn left and continue to Ailsa Craig; in the village turn left on County Rd. 19 (Queen/Petty St.), continue to New Ontario Rd., turn right and drive about 1 km. to Sunnivue on your left. Again, you have gone too far if you cross the one-lane bridge.
